...As far as I'm concerned, this is another fine slab of traditional metal that every fan of the genre should enjoy on numerous levels. Love him or hate him, Jon Schaffer knows how to make a killer metal album, and so does Ripper Owens. If this record is any indication, the future is very bright for this team of metallic vets. Pretty cool that guys that have been around the scene so long are still committed to making traditional metal and doing such a remarkable job of making it sound vital and rich. Yup - I'm a fan. Haters be damned. [Read More]

...But back to the music: Framing Armageddon finds Iced Earth using everything in their repertoire. Galloping guitars and bass, Ripper’s bombastic and spot-on vocals, Georgian chants, jaw-dropping drumming and ear melting solos. But they’ve also added much more acoustic material, tribal rhythms, organs, and cellos. Imagine what guitarist/band-leader Jon Schaffer pulled off with the Gettysburg trilogy on The Glorious Burden, then multiply that by five... [Read More] | Rating: 9.5/10

…I’d say this is definitely IE’s most demanding album so far. It took me considerably more time to sink in when compared to any of their earlier masterpieces. There is a lot to chew on, but given the time, it should really give a lot in return to fans of heavy music of any kind. This is definitely a labour of love for Jon Schaffer, one that he has spent years conjuring up, and I feel it shows in listening to the many layers in the work. [Read More] | Rating: 90/100

…This is the record where the former Judas Priest frontman finally comes of age. His vocals are nothing short of outstanding. Yes there are plenty of harmonies and orchestrated choir vocals on display but Owens owns the songs from start to finish. [Read More] | Rating: 8.5/10

...Owens is one of the best singers in the business, and this time around the vocals are right in his wheelhouse, and he knocks it out of the park. [Read More] | Rating: 4.5/5

…The quality is such that by the end of the nine minute "The Clouding’’ you’ll be wondering how much longer this class can last. And it does. [Read More] | Rating: 9/10

…the latest venture from Iced Earth is melodic heavy metal at its finest. Emotionally draining, “Framing Armageddon…” proves to be a solid listen as well as a will-bending metal anthem. Beautiful atmospheric haunt the listener as the metal just pours out of each and every pore. [Read More]

”Something Wicked Pt.1” or the excellent almost power ballad ”The Clouding” are some fine examples of this Schaffer-Owens alliance that has finally prove its worth! …get this powerful album before something wicked comes our way. [Read More] | Rating: 4/5

Mark's "unofficial" review based upon a recent studio visit with Jon and Jim Morris at Morrisound Studios during the mixing proccess.
…'Invasion': Big screen sci-fi animation effects. Think THX Star Wars battle scenes.…'The Motivation Of Man': Distant voiceover begins, then Owens with a different voice. Without a break, leads into…'The Setian Massacre': Where man kills off most of the Setian race, fueling revenge plot. Every conceivable space filled with a rich, bombastic sound. Measured guitar solo cuts through the center... [Read More]

...Another important aspect of this album is the appearance of Tim Owens, it seems like without him this release wouldn’t come as near as perfect as it has reached now. His vocals are like from another planet followed by many harmonies and orchestrated choir vocals... [Read More] | Rating: 91/100

Personally, I am very pleased with Owens's development because in JUDAS PRIEST was under the ton-heavy shadow of Halford and could not breathe musically. [Read More] | Rating: 4/5

"If this EP is a taste of things to come, I can’t wait. The new song here from Framing Armageddon is “Ten Thousand Strong.” The song, to me, blends the sound of The Glorious Burden with just a little taste of some of the band’s earliest work. It’s got everything Iced Earth fans want, high speed galloping guitar riffs and a catchy as hell chorus." [Read More]

"There are few bands who carry the kind of weight that Iced Earth do. And with their last studio album The Glorious Burden, they proved the weight could increase tenfold when Matt Barlow was replaced by famous Judas Priest fill-in Tim "Ripper" Owens." [Read More]
