Welcome to Purgatory -- The Official Iced Earth E-mail List!
Days of Purgatory remains one of Iced Earth's most fascinating albums, revered by fans for its scorching re-recording of Iced Earth classics from the band's earliest days.
It was an apt title for the album because Purgatory was the original name of Iced Earth. Plus, according to Jon's liner notes for the highly regarded album, it symbolized the many years of "suffering" and "paying dues" the band endured to get where it is today.
When we considered a name for the official Iced Earth e-mail list, "Purgatory" instantly came to mind -- but for reasons exactly opposite from the normal meaning of the word.
