We thought you'd enjoy this interview with Iced Earth mainman Jon Schaffer as he answers questions submitted by an Iranian fan. Thank you, Iman, for submitting your excellent questions. And thank you, Jon, for answering them. Enjoy!
The North American leg of Iced Earth’s 2011-2012 World Dystopia Tour has just barely gotten underway. But the band has already been booked to play the Bloodstock Festival this August.
"We are looking forward to returning to Bloodstock in 2012, our second time after 2008. The UK shows we played on the European leg of our World Dystopia Tour last fall were some of the best on the tour and we cannot wait to bang our heads with the UK minions again!" says Jon Schaffer of Iced Earth.
At Bloodstock, Iced Earth will share the stage with metal stalwarts Behemoth, Alice Cooper, Paradise Lost, Dimmu Borgir, Hatebreed, Anvil, and many others.
To say that Dystopia, Iced Earth’s 10th studio album, has opened doors would be an understatement. Not only has the album been a runaway favorite of critics and fans (both old and new) alike, it has taken the band to new countries on the most far-reaching tour in its 25-year history. Next up: China.
"The World Dystopia Tour has taken Iced Earth to places the band has never been before,” said Iced Earth founder and mastermind Jon Schaffer. “We are about to open yet another exciting chapter in touring by announcing our first-ever shows in China. Playing Beijing and Shanghai is something we have been looking forward to for a long time. Chinese metal heads: get ready to rage with us!!”

You're about to see the footage bassist Freddie Vidales shot during Iced Earth's European leg of the 2011-2012 World Dystopia Tour that didn't make it into his series of exclusive road-trip reports. Watch and you'll see why. All we can say is this: prepare to laugh. These out-takes are hilarious!
I just wanted to take a quick moment to wish you all a very happy holiday season.
We’ve just finished the European leg of the Dystopia World Tour and it was AMAZING! The band is on fire and the chemistry is as good as it’s ever been. We are very excited to be bringing the metal on full force in the coming years. Iced Earth is back with a vengeance, and I want to thank my band mates, my crew, my management team, and my label for their hard work and commitment to excellence. But most importantly, I want to thank all of you for your dedication and belief in Iced Earth. It’s been a struggle for many years, but you’ve always been there, and that’s the best motivation I have for never giving up the fight. We are back, and we are on the right path!
I hope you all have a wonderful 2012 and we will see you on the road!
